Ms Lizzie Phillips

Location: United Kingdom

Lizzie is an enthusiastic advocate for women’s pelvic health around birth. For the past 6 years she has been at the forefront of developing a new framework for reducing perineal trauma, improving recognition, repair and recovery.
She lives in the South West between the rugged moors and glorious sea, and works for Plymouth NHS hospital. She has over 19 years midwifery experience, during which she has had the privilege of being involved with many families giving birth in everything from the homebirth team to their high risk unit.
Over the last 6 years she’s become a Pelvic Health Specialist Midwife, Clinical lead of OASI2 and Devon Perinatal Pelvic Health Scheme. She’s a firm believer that Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Gynaecology should overlap more than they historically have. She seeks to get the research on reducing tears and improving pelvic health from academic papers to the women we serve. She hopes to raise the standards of teaching for our future midwives and reduce the social taboo around pelvic trauma.
