Austin is Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, former Clinical Director of Women’s Services at St George’s University Hospital, London, and ex-President of the European Society of Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (UK). His clinical & research interests include intrapartum fetal hypoxia-inflammation interactions and vulvovaginal infections. He acts as an Expert Advisor to the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE), Specialty Advisor to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), & for 10 years 2007 – 2017, was Scientific editor for British Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, & Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
