Dr Partha Basu

Dr. Partha Basu is the Head of Cancer Early Detection and Prevention Branch at the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is the specialized cancer agency of the World Health Organization. Dr. Basu is an MD in gynaecology and PhD in clinical oncology. He was trained as a gynaecologic oncologist at Imperial College, London. He is the former Head of Department of Gynaecologic Oncology at Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute of India.
Dr. Basu has 234 peer-reviewed publications with nearly 6000 citations. His research projects are supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, National Cancer Institute of the USA, Medical Research Council of the United Kingdom, European Commission, American Cancer Society and other major funding agencies. Evidence generated from his research has informed several guidelines developed by the World Health Organization in cancer prevention and early detection. Dr. Basu has recently been awarded the honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, United Kingdom.
