Dr Caroline Owen

Dr Caroline Owen is a consultant dermatologist at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust which includes the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital. She has run a specialist vulval clinic since 2002 and receives referrals from across Lancashire and South Cumbria. She has a long-standing interest in the role of incontinence in vulval disease and runs a multidisciplinary clinic in collaboration with the local urogynaecology team.
She has an interest in multi-professional education and training, and chairs the British College of Dermatology Vulval Workstream which has worked on the alignment of vulval disease curricula (across gynaecology, dermatology and sexual health), the development of a Post CCT fellowship in vulval disease, educational resources and the development of service standards for vulval disease. She has also worked with the British Association of Dermatologists, the BSSVD and NHS England on Specialised Commissioning for complex female genital disease.
